History

RoboCrafters was formed in November 2014 as a homeschool team. We have been fully funded by close family members throughout our first season and continuing into this, our second season.

We have an experienced robotics teacher who has served as our mentor and helped us get started our first year. He continues to work with us and other homeschool teams to be sure we are doing our best. There have been lots and lots of hours of work and plenty of messes at our house where we have our own robotics room and field set up in a bedroom.

We started entering competitions in January 2015 and won the excellence award (award for high performance in all areas) at each of the competitions we entered. This qualified us to compete at the Florida State Competition in March 2015. After a day of tough competition against other teams from across the state, we won the Excellence Award, Programming Award, and the Teamwork Challenge Award. This guaranteed our team a place at the World Championship Competition. 

In April 2015, we headed to Louisville, Kentucky to compete against teams from over 20 other countries from across the world. We placed 9th in programming in the World in the Elementary Division. Our driving skills ranked us at 32nd in the world. We had a blast! It was so much fun to meet new people and work with teams from other countries.

Current Season

We started our work on our 2015-2016 season robot during the summer. This will be the last year we can compete together in the same division on the same team, so we are working very hard to repeat our success from last year. Over the summer we learned how to use SnapCAD and have been using it ever since to build our designs in 3D. Lucas has been working hard on the actual building of the robot and Logan has been documenting everything in pictures and in the engineering notebook. Lucas designs things in SnapCAD and Logan perfects the speeds of the motors and works on the programming.

We had another successful season this year and made it to the state championship where we were able to win multiple awards again including Robot Skills, Programming Skills, Teamwork Champions and the Excellence Award. This qualified us to go to the World Competition again in Louisville, Kentucky. We are currently raising money to help us get to Kentucky again.
